The Sudanese Government, using Arab "Janjaweed" militias, its air force, and organized starvation, is systematically killing the black Sudanese of Darfur. The picture of the boy killed (left) shows what is happening in Darfur. Over a million people, driven from their homes, now face death from starvation and disease as the Government and militias attempt to prevent humanitarian aid from reaching them. The same forces have destroyed the people of Darfur's villages and crops, and poisoned their water supplies, and they continue to murder, rape and terrorize. This site's sole purpose is to try to save lives by helping stop the genocide in Darfur. It empowers you to take smart, strategic actions to compel those in power to act through international petitions or local events. It provides access to the best, most relevant and most upto date information available. You can also give online to Aid Agencies, or our Advocacy Fund. The situation in Darfur is dire. The choice we face simple. Act now to help save lives and stop the genocide, or watch as another chapter of injustice, cruelty and tragedy gets added to human history. Let's learn the bloody lessons of Rwanda, the Holocaust, and Armenia. Lets make sure that 2005 is not a year that we remember and regret. Support The Darfur Advocacy Fund and Help Save Lives Enough is enough. Fax Bush and demand the immediate deployment of U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur. Nearly half a million people have lost their lives in Darfur. How many more victims will the ongoing genocide claim? The U.S. government and the U.N. have issued many statements lately. But for all the talk, there has been very little action. Standing by as the genocide unfolds is morally reprehensible. There are no more excuses. As you read this message, millions of Darfurians are living in fear. More than a million people are completely cut off from any form of assistance, as increasing violence and insecurity have forced aid workers to flee. May's ceasefire agreement has been violated more than 70 times by both parties. Under pressure from AJWS supporters and others, in September, President Bush finally appointed Andrew Natsios as his Presidential Special Envoy for Sudan. While this is a step in the right direction, it is not enough. The Sudanese government continues to obstruct efforts to deploy a U.N. peacekeeping force to the region and has scaled up its violent offensive against rebels and civilians. Precedent demonstrates that when President Bush speaks, the Sudanese government and the international community listen. The Darfur Peace Agreement and the U.N. Security Council resolution for a Darfur peacekeeping force came about when the President spoke out and made Darfur a priority. Please join AJWS in calling on the President to raise his voice more loudly and more often. Fax Bush and ask him to demand that the Sudanese government consent to the immediate deployment of U.N. peacekeepers.
